Where we are
Lylius Farm Cottage & Campsites are located on the Krieberg Farm, a 1700 hectare organic rooibos and buchu Farm, at the foot of the Cederberg Mountains.
The farm is located between the towns of Citrusdal and Clanwilliam – for the perfect authentic country experience surrounded by majestic mountain scenery. Peaceful getaway, a short 5km gravel road from the N7 to the farm, easily accessible with normal car.
At Lylius Farm Cottage & Campsites, your days will be active in nature discoveries rhythmed by nature sounds, and your nights will be peacefully lightened by an incredibly clear and bright star sky.

We have four amazing open hiking trails for you and your pawed best friends:
- The Lookout trail (about 2km)
- The Buchu trail (about 1km)
- The Rock Art trail (about 2km)
- The Nieuwoudt Pass trail (~14km Route / also 4x4 route)
There are many more to be discovered and marked, and you are welcome to explore!
Our farm is about 1700 hectares, with many hidden gems, hiking trails and MTB routes.
This is also an amazing birding environment with several water birds nesting at the farm dam.
Kayaking, canoeing and fishing activities are possible at the farm dam so long as you bring your own equipment.
Lylius accommodation
Only two hours away from Cape Town, Lylius Cottage & Campsites are situated on a working organic Rooibos and Buchu farm, short distance from the N7. Self-catering and self-equipped, we are the right place if you are looking for a peaceful getaway in nature.
Here you can find peace and tranquillity, ideal for romantic getaways or for family gatherings. Our farm is about 1700 hectares. Activities for nature lovers and the adventurous include day hikes, rock climbing, mountain biking, trail running, bird watching, stargazing and swimming.
There are various mountain bike circular routes on and around the farm to beat the off-track and discover the wild fynbos kingdom - please remember to bring your own mountain bike!
With a swimming pool and a kid play area with a tree jungle gym on the farm at the Grassfield Campsites, we got you covered for fun school holidays!

We are a small family-owned company producing organic rooibos and buchu on our beautiful farm and we enjoy sharing our beautiful environment with nature-lovers and families looking for a peaceful getaway in the Cederberg.

Our background
Corné, born and raised in on a farm in the Sandveld region, north-west of Clanwilliam, married Lydia, born and raised in the South of France.
Globe-trotters and nature lovers, Corné and Lydia lived and studied (Environmental Management and Applied Ecology) in 6 countries, discovering the absolute magic of Earth’s ecosystems and biodiversity, before settling down in South Africa in 2010.
Corné comes from a lineage of rooibos producers, youngest son of the first organic certified rooibos farmer in South Africa, Frans van der Westhuizen (Klipfontein Farm).
In 2018, the little multi-cultural family, moved to a beautiful undeveloped farm at the foot of the majestic Cederberg mountains…
Finding our feet in nature
Our little multi-cultural family settled in the Cederberg region of South Africa in 2018, escaping the hustle and bustle of Cape Town; finding our feet on a beautiful undeveloped and wild farm at the foot of the majestic Cederberg mountains: the Kriedouw Farm, now renamed Krieberg Farm, “Far from the Madding Crowd”.
challenged along the way
The first few years of working on (or with) the Krieberg Farm have been tough but fulfilling. Much went into setting up the right space for the new organically produced and harvested crops, getting the right equipment, finding a good reliable and passionate team to work with, and planning for the future to ensure a sustainable biodynamic agricultural development for our beautiful land.
After a few years, our Cederbos Rooibos Creations are finding their space on the shelves of renown health and boutique tea stores around the world. Our Mission and Pride are to supply high quality, single-origin and organic rooibos, packed in 100% plastic-free, eco-friendly and safe packaging material.
Creating a legacy
With time, we grew to respect, love and adapt to our environment, its moods and emotions and align our actions with purpose to the goals we had set for the land. Our biggest drive was our sons and the legacy we would leave behind for the future generations, making them part of our projects, our actions, our intentions and our goals.
Sharing the cederberg
After a few years we decided to build a place where nature-lovers and families needing to escape the city and find peace and quiet could come to. With a very limited capital base we started building our campsites, inspired by elements found in our environment (rock walls, earthy ochre colours) and using our hands and logical minds to make this work. The key concept was to find a safe space, with a slower rhythm, with nature and limited amounts of people around. From there was born Lylius (Lydia + Cornelius) Campsites and Farm cottage.
